BMW's latest smart key allows remote control parking making it first in the world to adopt the technology. Almost a decade ago Smart keys made an appearance in Korea that allowed drivers to lock and unlock the cars with the press of a button and experts believe the car keys to come with high-tech features by 2020.

Last month Hyundai motors revealed the development of smart keys in the form of a wristband that gives access to drivers to remotely open the doors trunk and engine and is expected to be released in the market by 2018. Jaguar has also displayed a wearable wristband called Activity key for its 2017 F-Pace SUV's that permit the drivers to lock and unlock the car doors by a simple swipe.



BMW last year has released smart keys that are more versatile and technology savvy and along with it's 2016 '7' series models. Now the latest smart key features LCD display not allows drivers to remotely lock and unlock the doors of the car and control the car climate but will also allow remote control parking making it first in the world to allow this facility. This new feature allows you to move the car in and out of parking space while standing outside.

According to the company, the smart keys will come along with the upcoming new 5 series models. On the other hand, smartphone makers are keen to develop a technology in smartphones that replaces smart keys. Apple has also made its presence felt when they patented a key feature in June last year that will facilitate iPhone to control vehicle systems. The technology allows drivers to remotely start a car's engine but will also facilitate to adjust car's seat with the touch of a button. Apple is expected to commercialize the technology by 2020.

Earlier Volvo officials made an announcement that they are set to become the world's first automaker to offer cars that do not come with keys instead will be operated by smartphone.
