HMD Global launched the much awaited first Nokia Android smartphone Nokia 6 a few days ago amid high expectations after securing the brand licensing rights from Nokia in late 2016. However, it did not meet the expectations of the consumers and many felt it did not justify the price tag it demanded. This can be attributed due to its snapdragon 430 SoC, which apart from being old was not powerful as many of the midrange chips.
Earlier today HMD Global held a meeting in china and hinted at the possible launch of a new phone at Mobile world congress 2017.During slide presentation in the meeting in one of the slides it left a message that translates as See (you) at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, February 26’.
While it did not mention anything that the phone launching will have a snapdragon 835 processor, the company when enquired about the processor has issued a statement in the past that new high-end chip has been released just recently and will take some time to prepare.
HMD also made it clear to make an announcement at the right time.It appears today's meeting was the ideal situation. HMD also announced that the newly launched Android phone will go on sale on January 19 at 10.0O AM and will be sold exclusively by Jingdong. It is learned that Jingdong and HMD have signed a 5-year agreement that gives Jinddong Marketing rights in china.
