This Is How The Samsung Foldable Smartphone Looks; The Release Might Get Delayed Due To Hindrances That Lie In Developing The Technology

It is a known fact that Samsung has been exercising on the foldable smartphone for quite some time now that is also the industry's first of its kind. There are rumors that Samsung electronics will be releasing this phone in the third quarter of this year though in a small batch of 1 lakh units. The smartphone can be bent at an 180-degree angle and can be used as a tablet either.

As you can see the phone in the prototype below, the smartphone is bent in the middle to make it to half the original dimension. Such kind of foldable displays are very much useful in designing models that can be used multiple ways. But, there do exist many hassles in developing these displays. These are hindering Samsung in going to the commercial launch this year even though the display technology is made to the mark.

This Is How The Samsung Foldable Smartphone Looks; The Release Might Get Delayed Due To Hindrances Lie In Developing The Technology

What is hindering Samsung in postponing the launch?

- Samsung is currently concentrating on full-size displays or bezel-less displays which are very young to the market and are being well received by the customers. Samsung new innovation - on-screen fingerprint scanner is going to make its place in the upcoming smartphones. As these are proven technologies, Samsung is highly focussing on this kind of things and wanted to release a smartphone before anyone can release.

- There are biggest challenges behind the foldable displays. First, the display, battery, and hardware should withstand repeated folding and unfolding while not damaging any of the inner parts. Samsung electronics is testing the prototype 10,000 times a day. Second, a more encapsulated technology needs to be developed for the display to get protection from oxygen and water vapor.
