New Micro SD Cards are Coming that Run Installed Apps on any Smartphone

Internal storage on a Smartphone or a Tablet is very much limited that is not sufficient to install and run Apps, play music and videos. Hence users opt for external storage via Micro SD cards to store music and videos. These external Micro SD cards have a limitation that they cannot run apps even if you move the apps from internal storage to external storage.

The smartphones are designed in such a way that apps are controlled from internal storage. Hence the storage memory is quickly emptied with the apps.

Keeping these queries in mind, SD association have announced a new class label called "Application Performance Class" which is designed to label all SD and Micro SD to let users know whether their Micro SD runs apps or not.

These memory cards can be used in any Smartphone running Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Android 6.0 added SD card support as 'Adoptable Storage Devices' for the smartphones

SD memory cards with the A1 symbol will meet, or exceed, the following conditions

  • . Random Read Input-Output access Per Second (IOPS) of 1500/Sec
  •   Write IOPS of 500/Sec
